     CARE's work in Indonesia: Sectors

CARE's work in Indonesia is divided in the sectors of health, livelihoods, water and sanitation, emergency response, disaster risk reduction, environment and natural resource management. Click on the links below to read more and to see a list of CARE's projects in each sector.

Child Rights and At-Risk Youth Programs
CARE is working closely with Government counterparts, community-based organizations and national NGOs to raise awareness about domestic child labor to ensure that their rights as children are being met.

Disaster Risk Management
Indonesia is a disaster-prone region, with many areas suffering from recurrent shocks such as earthquakes, drought and internal conflict. By incorporating Disaster Risk Reduction methods into our programming, CARE helps people recover from external shocks, but also to develop sustainable, resilient methods to prepare for and deal with any future disasters.

Environment and Natural Resource Management and Climate Change
CARE assists families with food production while aiding in management of their natural resources. CARE works closely with farmers to increase their crop and livestock yields through activities such as planting new seed varieties, animal husbandry, home gardening and irrigation and also provides knowledge that helps to preserve the environment for future generations.

Health and Nutrition
CARE's projects in health focus on women and children, who often are the most vulnerable to disease and malnutrition.

Livelihoods
Economic empowerment is a way for people to ensure sustainable livelihoods and supply themselves with added food security and income.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
CARE helps communities build and maintain clean water sources and sanitation systems with the help of community and government members.
